Nii Akrofi Smart-Abbey (Ghana) is a freelance multimedia journalist with over a decade’s experience across media platforms.

Philip Crowther (Luxembourg) is the International Affiliate Reporter for the Associated Press.

Maria Danilova (Russia) is a journalist at Agence France-Presse in Washington D.C.

 

Janine di Giovanni (France) has been a reporter in many war zones and post-conflict areas in Africa, the Middle East and Balkans over the last 30 years.

Patrícia Vasconcellos (Brazil) is the U-S correspondent for Brazilian TV network Sistema Brasileiro de Televisão.

 
 

ANNUAL SCHOLARSHIP AWARDEES

 

Mercy Adhiambo Orengo (Kenya) is a student at the graduate school of Journalism at Columbia University. She is in the MA-Science cohort. She was the 2020 Nieman visiting fellow at Harvard University.

Isabella Zavarise (Canada) is a Canadian journalist pursuing her M.A. at The University of Southern California where she’s focusing on business and data journalism.

Eleonora Bianchi (Switzerland) is second-year student at the UC Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism, focusing her career in narrative writing and Investigative journalism.

Natalia Sánchez Loayza (Peru) is Peruvian journalist, editor, and writer. She’s a master candidate in Bilingual Journalism at the Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism as a Future Journalist Fund Scholar. Additionally, she holds an MFA in Creative Writing in Spanish from NYU.

Noran Morsi (Egypt) is a writer and podcaster studying at New York University’s Literary Reportage MFA program She spent her first-year post-graduate as a reporter at Egyptian Streets, an independent online publication, where she founded the Egyptian Streets Podcast.

Idris Muktar (Kenya) is a master’s student at U.C. Berkeley’s Graduate School of Journalism. Prior to graduate school, he worked as a journalist across Africa for DW, CNN, among other national, regional and international news outlets.

Khushboo Razdan (India) is a multimedia journalist with over a decade of work experience in India and China. She is presently pursuing a Master of Arts degree in Politics at the Columbia School of Journalism. In India, she worked for NDTV 24x7, Times Now, and India Today.
